LDSMN REVIEW

Nancey Hanson has a good pop voice and puts it to good use on this holiday album. The ten tracks are a mixture of original and evergreen holiday standards. The pace is uptempo and the mood is festive. As an independent artist, Hanson shows considerable promise for a recording contract with an established LDS label should she choose that path. I'd say Hanson's voice falls in the mezzo-soprano range. She doesn't get into super high notes, like Mariah Carey. But she does stay nicely within her own range.

She starts off with the title track, an original tune. She includes several favorite LDS hymns in very contemporary settings, and gives the Children's song "Stars Were Gleaming" a pop treatment. "Frosty the Snowman" is included, as well as the standard "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

If you enjoy holiday music AND giving independent artists a chance, this album is definitely worth a purchase. I rate it a good solid 3 stars.
