 This
trio, who are related to President Gordon B. Hinckley, is made up
of three brothers who have a strong country flavor in all their
music. The oldest, Derek, writes most of the group's material, but
all three work on the music and specifically the harmonies.
"Everything I Need" is the title track and the lyrics
speak of not getting what we want but what we need. The music is
up-tempo with a clear acoustic guitar accompaniment.
"Out of This World" speaks of leaving this world for "His."
Also up-tempo, the pace continues through the next track.
"Raise Me Up" has a country feel throughout.
"In His Embrace" is a soft ballad and pleases with its
uplifting lyrics. It was previously recorded by Katherine Nelson
for an EFY album back in 2001.
"If I Could Take it Back" focuses on those times we wish
we could take back our unkind or befuddled words and make everything
right again. Nice ballad.
"I Must Believe" is as close as the Hinckleys can come
to making the declaration that the LDS faith is the purest one without
saying so in such words. It also speaks of the need to exercise
faith.
"Upon My Return" is a ballad speaking of how meaningful
the missionary experience can be and that the testimony is so strong
they plan to continue witnessing upon their return.
"All the Proof I Need" is another slower-paced piece with
Derek on piano. The lyrics speak of not needing excessive displays
to confirm their faith.
"Circle Back Around" is a fun, peppy song that talks about
how giving love gets love in return.
"He Will Calm You" I love the lyrics in this song: "If
He doesn't calm the storm/He will calm you." Great message.
And some nice harmony to boot.
"You Saved Me" is a song of thanksgiving to the Savior
and has more of a folk feel to it than country. Nicely done.
"In the Garden" is the lone a cappella piece and is so
moving in its simplicity.
"My Hero" is the first of four bonus tracks and it's a
touching tribute to parents and the Savior.
"The End Zone" speaks of the fun simpler days and when
love for the girl next door.
"Get on With My Life" is the truest country ballad on
the album. It speaks of heartbreak and the need to move on.
"The Way it Was" I feel is one of the most country feeling
songs on the album. It has a kicking guitar track that makes one
want to get up and dance.
There is a seventeenth hidden track that is a soft ballad.
Wow. What can I say? The the lyrics and music are so compelling
that you can't help falling in love with these guys. A solid four
stars. I can't wait to hear what they do next.
