 Eric
Herman, also known to me as Eric Herman Endres, makes this debut
as a children's artist. And what a debut! I laughed myself silly
listening to some of the comic nonsense he penned for this album.
There are ten songs on the album, and he used poet Kenn Nesbitt's
works for half of them. The rest were penned with his wife Roseann.
Some of the songs teach a message, and others are just for fun.
Here's a quick rundown of the offerings.
"The Dinoasur, the Dodo and the Unicorn" Eric ponders
the mystery of what happened to the three extinct animals and suggests
it's because they never did anything they were supposed to.
"The World's Fastest Bicycle" is a fun, fast piece celebrating
the joys of a bicycle. Kenn Nesbitt penned the words and Eric created
the wonderful music.
"There's a Monster in My House" made me laugh myself nearly
sick. I won't spoil the surprise of the lyrics. You'll have to hear
for yourself who the monster really is.
"I Dreamed That I Could Fly" is pretty much what one would
expect from the title. It's the second of Kenn Nesbitt's words.
"The Tiger and the Zebra" also made me laugh, but I appreciated
the subtle message about lying.
"Crazy Mountain Road" is a song that requires a little
bit of audience participation. It tells a parable of three different
truck drivers and the level of recklessness they're willing to take
on in order to deliver a load. Good message hidden in it for the
kiddies.
"The Kid in the Mirror" felt like it had been written
as a fun song for a baby exploring their new environment through
a mirror.
"The Elephant Song" is another one good for some audience
participation as Eric manages to mix up all the animals and what
they do.
"The Tale of the Sun and the Moon" is another Kenn Nesbitt
piece set into a lovely lullaby.
Overall this is a good buy for a family with young children. Eric
is also available for live performances and I highly recommend him.
He's got a great sense of humor and will likely leave the audience
breathless from laughter. Contact him at www.EricHermanMusic.com.

Three and a half stars for the album.
