LDSMN REVIEW

This is a compilation of the best performances by the BYU jazz band Synthesis over the course of three years, 1999-2001. I'm not going to analyze every song because there are two CDs and that would make for a ridiculously long review. I will say that this a smokin' hot group that deserves a lot of praise. Their musicianship is outstanding and could very well stand up to professional peer without question. This would be a fun album to buy not only for the great music, but to pay attention to who the musicians are because there is no doubt in my mind that they'll go on to professional careers. The album contains a good mixture of contemporary jazz and known oldies from Duke Ellington. A solid four stars.
