 Jericho
Road's sophomore effort features the tight harmonies one would expect
from a quartet, but also features plenty of solo moments. There
are some real treats on this album with its cover of a Kenny Loggins/Guy
Thomas tune among its twelve tracks.
All twelve tracks are good musically and lyrically. Every one speaks
in some way about the role of the Savior in our lives. But some
really stand out.
The lead track "Finding My Way Back to You" is a great,
upbeat opening to the album.
"You Melt the Madness" is I feel, the best song on the
album. Written by Lowell Alexander and Steve Siler, it speaks of
how Christ can step into the craziest situations and calm everything
down. I love the solo voice and the piano arrangement. Just a wonderful,
uplifting song.
"I Believe" is another good one that is written by Julia
Davis Allen and Tyler Castleton. Upbeat throughout, this one speaks
of knowing "who I am/And what I can be/'Cause I believe."
It's followed by the upbeat "A New Day" which was written
by Jenny Frogley and Tyler Castleton. This track is especially appropriate
for dancing.
Loggins/Thomas' "Conviction of the Heart" gets a respectful
treatment and is worth noting for the nice harmonies it features
on its chorus.
And the closing song "If I Lose My Way" is a terrific
a cappella piece with exquisite harmonies.
Overall, Jericho Road does a good job on their sophomore release.
I'd like to hear more harmonizing, though. So I rate it 3.5 stars.
